Care Instructions for Wrapped Cars

Congratulations on your newly wrapped car!
At XWrap, we strive to give your vehicle a unique look with our high-quality wraps. To ensure your wrap stays in top condition for years, it’s important to maintain it properly. Follow these guidelines carefully to maximize the lifespan of your wrap and keep your vehicle looking like new.

  1. Wait at least 7 days before washing
    Give the wrap time to fully adhere by not washing your vehicle for the first 10 days. Washing during this period can interfere with adhesion and shorten the lifespan of the wrap.

  2. Hand washing is preferred
    For the best results and longest lifespan, we recommend hand washing.

  • Use lukewarm water and a mild, pH-neutral car shampoo.
  • Avoid harsh brushes or coarse sponges; instead, use a soft sponge or microfiber cloth.
  • Rinse the car thoroughly and dry it with a soft microfiber cloth to prevent water spots.
  1. Pressure washer: Use with caution
    If you must use a pressure washer:
  • Keep the nozzle at a distance of at least 60 cm from the vehicle.
  • Use a low-pressure setting and avoid spraying directly at the edges of the wrap to prevent it from lifting.

  1. Avoid automatic car washes
    Automatic car washes can damage the wrap, especially those with rotating brushes. These brushes can scratch or even peel the wrap. It’s better to opt for a manual wash.

  2. Remove stains quickly
    Stains such as bird droppings, insects, tar, or tree sap can permanently damage the wrap if not removed quickly. Clean these stains as soon as possible with a mild, non-aggressive cleaner and a soft cloth.

  3. Protection against extreme weather conditions

  • UV protection: Direct and prolonged exposure to sunlight can cause the wrap to fade over time. Park in the shade or use a car cover to protect your vehicle from the sun.
  • Snow and road salt: In winter, road salt can damage the wrap. Rinse your car regularly to prevent salt buildup, especially in the wheel arches and other hard-to-reach areas.

  1. Polishing and waxing: Be cautious
    While wraps don’t need regular polishing or waxing, you can use a wrap sealant or ceramic coating for added protection that is safe for the film.
    Avoid traditional car wax as it can damage the wrap.

  2. Repairing damage
    If your wrap gets damaged, such as light scratches or tears, contact us immediately. Small damages can often be repaired locally without needing to replace the entire wrap.

  3. Regular maintenance for long life
    A wrap typically lasts 5 to 7 years, depending on sun exposure, climate, and the level of care. By regularly cleaning and protecting your wrap, you can ensure it looks great for years to come.
